Description:

An excellent guide to playing good endgames

Rating: 5

This little book is excellent. It compares very well to Edmar Mednis's books on the endgame, inasmuch as it explains in detail how to make plans in the endgame and typical mistakes to avoid. Highly recommended.

Description:

After the immense success of the first two editions, the chess world has been anticipating the next instalment with baited breath... and now the wait is over! Once again this is a fully revised edition of John Watson's classic Play the French, providing Black with a complete repertoire in the French Defence, one of the most strategically and dynamically complex opening systems. As is typical with his books, Watson often arms the reader with not one, but a choice of two and sometimes three lines against every main variation. Watson also presents a thorough grounding on the positional and tactical aspects of the opening and outlines the typical plans for both White and Black. This is particularly welcome for those newcomers wishing to add the French Defence to their openings armoury. Last, but not least, hardened French Defence devot ... Read more »

In Descriptive Notation

An excellent book which is not out-dated and for the price an absolute steal. Though some older opening books can be criticized as a tad bit out-date most can still be used today to learn the basics structures of different openings. Besides, the actual variations used in a game works better if it is your own creation rather than a memorized version and this applies to beginners as well as the experts. Excellent for intermediate players, but can also be used by all. If you are not c ... Read more »

Applying AutoCAD 2010 has been updated to accompany the new version of the AutoCAD software, which includes some useful features for both 3D modeling and 2D documentation. Some of these features include:

3D Mesh Modeling --- A 3D mesh is a new type of object that can be reshaped by pushing or pulling on its surface. The object can be converted to a 3D solid.

In another review, I said that Essential Chess Endings by GM James Howell is the best endgame book on what could be termed "textbook" endgames: King and Pawn, Rook endings from Rook vs. Pawn through Rook and Pawn (with several pawns on both sides), minor piece endings, queen endings, etc. Howell explains the ba ...
